According to the 1877 Genealogical Account of the Bishop Family, the earliest recorded ancestor of this family named in the "Heralds Visitations" was John BYSSHOP.  It is recorded that in the time of Richard II (ruled from 1377-1399), he married Agnes BURGUILLON, daughter of Robert BURGUILLON and niece of Alice BURGUILLON of Worcester.  From the record one can deduce that John BYSSHOP was alive in the year 1400.  There is no information about where or when he was born, or where or when he died.
