INQUISITION POST MORTEM:

On the death of William Bishop, an "Inquisition post mortem" was taken at Sherborne in the County of Dorset, on the 26 April, 15 Car. I. (A.D. 1639), and the jury returned upon their oaths that the said William Bisshop, deceased, held lands in Holway and Metford, in the Parish of Catestoke, in the County of Dorset, and that by an Indenture, dated 11 March, 2 Car. I. (A.D. 1626-7) between the said William Bisshop, deceased, as William Bisshop of Holway, in the Parish of Catestoke, in the County of Dorset, on the one part and Richard Bisshop, son and heir apparent of the said William Bishop, etc.  He held and was seized of these lands, etc., on the 28th of August last past, the day of his death, and Richard Bisshop is certified as his son and nearest heir and of the age of forty years fully completed."
